Screw the leg pieces together with 3-inch wood screws. I have read that the best height for a workbench is +/- an inch from your wrist height to the floor when standing with feet shoulder width apart. Now I realize this is totally subjective but what, as a general rule, what is a good width and height for a hand tool, and power tool workbench.
Cost for the workbench will be a factor so I am looking at a base made of big box store wood. I feel I can get large enough sizes to make it stable without breaking the bank. Does your back start to ache after you’ve been working at your workbench for a while? If you’re doing a lot of hand-tool woodworking, the height should be optimized for handplaning, where you can really get over the workpiece and use your weight instead of your arms and back.
